Writers Don’t Make Money

Writers don’t make money.

Writers make written gold—

Gold that sinks deeper than paper.

Paper stays on the surface of the pool,

But gold sinks quick,

And settles like sediment.

It resides, not dissolves,

It continues to question, not to solve.

It may rust, and some will discard it then,

But chip away, and it is gold again.

But no, writers don't make money.

They have only their gold to spend.
